In Pony Club Victoria, teams of riders compete in zones and states, with skills clinics for all levels.

How to get involved
Game on! Join your local Pony Club Victoria club for rally games sessions, then form teams for interzone events. We have beginner-friendly clinics, like our Mounted Games Skills Clinic for 7+ year-olds.
Parents, it’s a blast to watch and volunteer – explore our inclusive programs for beginner tips. Current members can register for events like the 2025 National Championships via our calendar, where qualified teams are required.
Coaches can organize sessions using our rally support resources. Inclusive for all abilities!
Skill development
Sharpen quick reflexes, teamwork, and pony-handling under pressure! You’ll learn vaulting, precise turns, and strategy, while improving fitness and sportsmanship. Great for young riders to build confidence in a playful way. Updates to proficiency certificates, including the new “E” level for beginners, support steady progress with a focus on safety and welfare.

Mounted Games Divisions
Mounted Games divisions offer a clear, step-by-step progression. These levels build skills from basic teamwork to advanced strategy across fun, relay-style challenges, all while prioritizing fun, safety, and horse welfare. Each division focuses on age-appropriate games, with team compositions that encourage participation and growth.
Junior Division (Prince Philip Games): The Starting Point for Beginners
Perfect for young riders dipping their toes into mounted games! This entry-level division focuses on building confidence, basic skills, and team spirit without overwhelming you. Riders must be 16 years and under.
* Skills and Focus: Control your pony’s speed and direction in a safe, fun way. It’s all about simple relays, handovers, and error-free fun – no penalties for small mistakes here. Emphasis on willingness to participate, basic turns, and happy partnerships. Riders learn to vault, bend poles, and grab flags while staying balanced.
* Games and Movements: Relay races like bending/baton relay, mug race, carton race, sock & bucket, flag races, and more. Focus on mounted attempts first, with dismounts only if needed. Teams of 6 riders, with at least 4 under 17.
* Team Size: Teams of 6-7 combinations, competing in heats of 5 teams.
Senior Division (National Mounted Games): Developing Speed and Strategy
Things get more engaging with faster paces and complex team maneuvers – you’re becoming a true team!
* Skills and Focus: Ride forward with steady control, quality handovers, and strategic planning. Develop balanced seats, quick reflexes, and understanding of flexion in turns. Excellent knowledge of rules, error correction, and horse care post-game. Riders must be 17-25 years old.
* Games and Movements: Builds on junior games with advanced variations, including milk bottle race, flag and drum relay. Focus on lane discipline, no fouling, and replacing knocked items. Teams select any 6 for events, maintaining order once started.
* Team Size: Teams of 6-7 combinations, with flexible age mix but open to seniors.
