Club Offerings

Toongabbie & District Pony Club is a small, community-focused club in the East Gippsland Zone of Pony Club Victoria, based on Heywood Street behind the Toongabbie Recreation Reserve. Sitting just north of Traralgon in the heart of Gippsland horse country, the club provides children from across the area with a safe, happy, and genuinely warm place to learn to ride and enjoy their horses.

Toongabbie’s real strengths sit in its community culture and the shared-grounds relationship with the Toongabbie & District Riders Club (established 1979). The two clubs share a well-equipped home on Heywood Street — complete with clubrooms, brick amenities, a BBQ area, and fenced parking and riding spaces — and the grounds also host endurance rides, dressage events, gymkhanas, and the Thomson Valley Bush Riders’ annual SIDS Kids Ride. For families, this means pony club sits within a much broader equestrian community, and there’s a natural adult trail-riding pathway for members who want to keep riding beyond pony club age.

The club is known for its community ethos. Each May, the Pony Club and Riders Club together host the “Do It For Dolly” Ride and BBQ Lunch — supporting Dolly’s Dream — which has become a much-loved fixture on the local calendar. The club’s membership model is also designed for accessibility, with a pay-per-rally fee structure that keeps things affordable for families. Toongabbie is a great fit for families in Toongabbie, Heyfield, Cowwarr, Tyers, Glengarry, Rosedale, Traralgon, and the wider Gippsland area.

Membership provides personal accident insurance (up to certain limits) and public liability coverage for approved Pony Club activities, but it doesn't cover horse veterinary costs.
