Club Offerings
Tarwin Lower Pony Club is a small, enthusiastic club in the West Gippsland Zone of Pony Club Victoria, based at the Tarwin Lower Recreation Reserve on Walkerville Road. Set in the coastal South Gippsland countryside close to Waratah Bay, Walkerville, and Venus Bay, the club offers a warm, relaxed environment for riders who want to learn, improve, and enjoy horses at their own pace — whether or not competition is the goal.
Tarwin Lower’s real strengths lie in its inclusive, participation-first culture and its flexible membership model. The club encourages members who want to compete and actively supports them travelling to events at neighbouring clubs like Traralgon and Meeniyan — but it also keeps plenty on offer for riders who simply want to improve their skills in a friendly environment. Membership is structured to meet families where they are: both annual memberships and per-rally “come & try” options are available, making it genuinely easy to give pony club a go before committing long-term.
The club also runs a notably rich school holiday program across all three terms — including summer and spring holiday clinics and a dedicated winter holiday camp — which is unusual for a small club and gives young riders plenty of extra saddle time beyond the monthly rallies. New junior and adult members are both welcome. Tarwin Lower is a great fit for families in Tarwin Lower, Venus Bay, Sandy Point, Waratah Bay, Walkerville, Fish Creek, Meeniyan, Inverloch, Leongatha, Foster, and the wider South Gippsland coast.
