Pony Club Announces New Executive Officer

Dear Pony Club Victoria Members,
I’m happy to introduce myself as your new Executive Officer, and I can’t wait to get to know you. I’m passionate about sport and the way it builds confidence, teamwork, and lifelong friendships.
Here are a few questions I’ve answered to share a bit about myself, my journey, and my vision for Pony Club Victoria:
What inspired you to take on the role of Executive Officer at Pony Club Victoria, and what excites you most about it?
I’ve always believed in the power of sport to bring people together and shape lives, and Pony Club Victoria is the heart of that for so many. After years of leadership in sports administration, I was drawn to this role to support our clubs and grow our community.
Your experience in sports leadership has been transformative. How will those experiences shape your approach at Pony Club Victoria?
My time leading sporting groups has taught me that listening to the community—riders, parents, coaches, and volunteers—is the key to success. I’ve seen how programs that balance grassroots passion with clear goals can make a real difference. I’ll bring that same focus to Pony Club Victoria, building strong connections with clubs, assisting to boost participation, and ensure our programs reflect the needs of clubs.
You recently won the 2024 revolutioniseSPORT Sports Administrator of the Year – Eunice Gill Award. What does this recognition mean to you, and how does it influence your goals for Pony Club Victoria?
Receiving the Eunice Gill Award was such an honour, and it’s a reminder of the amazing teams and communities I’ve worked with. For me, it’s fuel to keep pushing for excellence at Pony Club Victoria. My goal is to ensure Pony Club Victoria remains a place where every rider feels supported and where clubs are empowered.
What’s your vision for growing Pony Club Victoria and keeping our community engaged?
I want Pony Club Victoria to be a welcoming home for everyone, from first-time riders to seasoned competitors. My vision is to grow participation through accessible programs, like clinics and rallies that spark excitement, and by strengthening our clubs so they’re the heart of local communities. I also want to use events and digital tools to connect with members and share the joy of Pony Club, inspiring lifelong love for horses and riding.
Pony Club has a rich history in equestrian sport. How will you balance tradition with innovation?
The traditions of Pony Club—camaraderie, respect for horses, and learning through teamwork—are what make it so special, and I’ll always hold those close. But to keep growing, we need to embrace new ideas. I’m excited to work with the Board to create a strategic plan that captures modern training techniques, use technology to enhance learning, and a plan to reach out to new families and communities. It’s about blending the best of our heritage with fresh steps forward to keep Pony Club thriving.
I’m so excited to start this journey, Pony Club Victoria is about more than riding—it’s about building skills, friendships, and memories that last a lifetime. I’m here to listen, support, and work together to make our community even stronger. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with your ideas, questions, or just to say hello—I can’t wait to meet you at a rally, event, or club soon!
Warm regards,
Meaghan Densley
